For Prius: Is there a driver’s side power seat option available? Are heated seats an option with leather?
Hi,
there is no option for either a power seat or heater elements for the leather seats.
As small a power drain as it is, both are considered unneccesary on this type of environmentally concious vehicle.
Believe it or not, the decision to add leather was even a debate within Toyota. The concern was if people would consider leather to not be environmentally friendly enough to be worth the option (yes, leather is probably less environmentally damaging than all the poly seats made from petroleum, but we’re talking perception, not understanding).
I have seen very nice aftermarket leather with heaters, but make sure the company knows what they are doing, if you go this route.
There are side seat airbags in the Prius and the seams in the factory seats are made to split if the airbags deploy (to allow them to inflate out of the side of the seat). Make sure the company has experience with that type of work, or your side seat bags will not be able to expand properly.
