how to find top dead center on a 240sx?
ok how do i find top dead center. there are marks on my crank pully but there so rusted i cant tell witch mark is the TDC. is there another way to find TDC? btw i hav a 89 sohc ka24e 240sx
Hi there,
that engine you mentioned is the same which is fitted to the Terrano 2.4 petrol, you can check the tdc the old fashioned way> Remove spark plugs to ease engine rotation, remove your rotor cap and turn the engine over by hand using a spanner until the rotor arm points to contact No:1 on rotor cap which you will have already checked by following ht lead to cylinder No:1. Using a long screwdriver, place the screwdriver into the plug hole of No:1 cylinder and turning engine over by hand slowly you will feel the screwdriver drop, turn the engine backwards till it rises and you will feel it get to the top then drop again, this can sometimes drive you round the bend but with practice turning the engine over by hand backwards and forwards slowly, You will feel the piston at the top of it’s stroke, tdc!!
Or
point rotor arm at No:1 on cap and remove lower crankshaft pulley and the woodruff key should be pointing to 12 O’clock.
