How much horsepower would i get out of..?
A gran Torino with:
351 Cleveland 2 valve
Holley 750 dual feed carb
Edelbrock performer intake
I have been looking at these cars for a few years now and have found a good deal. I want to make sure I got the power under the hood.
Evidently you mean that each cylinder has 2 valves; intake and exhaust.
I had a 1970 Cougar with a 351 Cleveland with a 4 barrel carb. The stock engine was listed as 300 HP. I also had an Edelbrock performer manifold and a mild cam.
Your 350 Chevy and 351 Clevland/Windsor engines call for around a 650 CFM Carb. I had a 750 Holly Double Pumper on it at one time, and it ate gas like crazy.
If you get a 750 double pumper, make sure it has vacuum secondaries and not mechanical. That will save you plenty of gas.
Hollys get clogged up easily because they have metering “holes” and not metering rods like the Rochester QuadraJet 4 barrel that they come with. So make sure you install an extra fuel filter on it.
As for horsepower, that will depend on what year your Cleveland is. Once they came out with all the emission crap, the HP went way down. The Corvettes produced in the 70s that had the new emission standards only put out 180 HP.
Clevelands are thin skinned and tend to have overheating problems.
